When you’re just having “one of those days”, and all hope seems lost.
We’ve all had those days. Where nothing goes right, nothing feels right, and all we want to do is hide from the world and wish it all away. Typically, as “functioning” adults, this just isn’t an option. We have responsibilities, places to go, things to do, people to see. So, we suck it up. We paste a smile on our face, & we persevere. But inside, our hearts are aching, our minds are reeling, & we wonder if we’ll ever feel alright again. We agonize over choices made, paths followed, words said or not said. And most of us take all of those feelings, and cram them way down deep inside somewhere, never letting on to the outside world the pain we’re in. Wishing, and wondering….wishing things were different, wondering “What if”…..and always wishing we could simply crawl into bed, hide under the covers, and sob our hearts out in the hopes of letting go of some of our pain.
And then a new day dawns. And suddenly, somehow, this one is better. Maybe your children make you smile. Maybe the sun is shining, & it’s not quite so cold outside. Maybe a friend or loved one reaches out to you, sensing that you need them. Maybe those choices you made, or words you said turned out to be the right ones. Whatever the reason, a new day dawns. A better day. And there will always be a new day, and a better day. So when you’re having one of “those” days, reach out to the world around you, follow your heart, follow your instincts, to whatever it is you need or want to make you happy in this life. Grab onto it with both hands, and never let go. Because it isn’t over….there’s always a new day dawning.
And in case you were wondering, (and thanks for asking!), yes, I am having one of “those” days…but I have reached out to you, dear reader, and tomorrow may be a better day for it.
