Today, women from across the world have stood up and said ” I will not conform to what society expects a proper young woman to look like!” I am one one those many beautiful young ladies. No more “Step-ford Wives” and “Martha Stuart look a-likes!” Why is it that men and most women believe it or not…. expect us to look proper and “normal?”

   I am a woman who has chosen to use my body as an artistic, self expressive representation of who I am! I love tattoo’s, crazy hair style and colors! It is so beautiful! Its like I tell everyone, ” If we all looked alike in this world it would be a very black and grey place, boring!” “Why just be white when I can be colored and a walking piece of art.

   For some reason, when we step out of the social conformity of whats expected from us we are treated like the plague or criminals! We live in a melting pot! Out country is filled with so many different people and its amazing and inspiring! So, the question coming from me is, “Why do you step aside from me at the store or why do you stare and point, why do you feel that you have the right to judge me for who I am?” You do not know me. I cook dinner, do laundry, clean, take my child to watch her play soccer and volunteer at her school when needed! So what makes me different from you? Two words, “SELF EXPRESSION” and that about sums it up! Sure maybe I have some hobbies that are different from yours. For instance, Tattoo Conventions! You should try one! you will meet the most beautiful, unique, open minded men, women and children you have ever met before. A place where everyone excepts your differences. All because it is for one cause, ”SELF EXPRESSION” and all it means!

   So, the next time you pass a heavily tattooed man or women smile, and say”Hello!” You may just be surprised when you get the same in return! We are not meant to be social outcasts. We just appreciate the freedom that our country gives us! Why pay to go look at art in a museum when you have a beautiful piece of artwork that may be standing right next to you! Step out of the box and be your true self! Not what you think you are suppose to look like! I hope this inspires someone to either take a step forward and open their mind or to run out and run away from conformity. That’s the real enemy!
