Pajamas in public?
Who said it was OK to wear your pajamas in public. I go to the grocery store to get dog food for my 5 beagles and there are people shopping in their pajamas. Now I like to be comfortable as much as the next guy. Jeans and tennis shoes are my favorite choice of clothing. But pajamas are made for sleeping in not shopping in. First I started noticing teenagers in the stores in their slippers. Then I started seeing grown women in the stores in their slippers. Now I am seeing women, men, teenagers it doesn’t seem to matter I see them all out in public in their jamies.
If my daddy had seen me wearing my pajamas in public he would have had a fit. I don’t consider myself to be stuffy but I think it’s just a sign of the relaxed times we live in. I see it as a sign of our lack of concern for what others think of us. I believe that how a person presents himself or herself is a presentation of their inner self. I’ve heard it said that if your home and car are a mess your mind is probably a mess. It makes me wonder if a person cannot take enough pride in themselves to get dressed before they leave the house no wonder the rest of the world sees us as spoiled Americans.
It might seem like a small thing but everything starts somewhere. The hippie movement started when someone stood up and said, “Something needs to change”. The anti-slave movement started when someone said, “Hey, these are people too.” The environmental movement started when someone looked around and said, “The animals need our help.”
I would like to start a movement by suggesting that people take pride in themselves. I’d like to suggest that as Americans we have the chance to show the world that we hold our heads high and dress for the success of our country. Weather we are going to the white house or the grocery store.
