An early morning experience in small town USA.
Early Morning Life
Beep… Beep… Beep… wha…Whats that?!!
I awaken to an obnoxious sound being emitted from a small white box beside my bed. It couldn’t be time to get up yet! If I am to get up, I must awaken myself. “Good Morning Lord” is usually followed by a stumbling attempt to locate the clothes I laid out a matter of hours before. The time: shortly before 5:30 A.M.. The mission: To take a brisk walk before my busy day begins. A few minutes later, I stumble out of the house and head to Main Street. All is quiet. No music, no cars, no disruptions. It is a good time to simply think and pray. As the walk progresses, the world seems to awaken a little more. A few people are beginning their long commute to work. Some people are at the Wellness Center, while others are visiting at Daylight Donuts. Oh, and there is the group gathering at the Municipal Hall for Old Men’s Basketball. The houses are all silent and dark as I enter the residential area. It remains still until I reach the Library. The sprinkler system is running and feels rather refreshing when the breeze blows the mist toward me. I start back home and greet and few more walkers on the way. Breakfast is the first item of business on the agenda when I arrive home. A glass of juice and a cinnamon Danish taste best on the front porch while watching the first pink clouds of the sunrise appear on the horizon.
