A true account of what may (or may not) be a run-in with a demon.

Before you read this, I must tell you, I am NOT making this up. It really happened. That being said, I have long been a very scientific person (I am an Aquarius so I analyze everything).

I have never been what you would call a “religious person,” but I do believe that it is very arrogant to think that there is not a “Greater Power.” Think about it. The world had to be created with living beings, and I don’t know of any human that has pulled that feat off yet. I am however familiar with the Bible, and I know the basic idea of what it teaches (right and wrong, good and bad, love don’t hate, and so on). I do know that the Bible specifically mentions demons several times, and even Jesus had to deal with them, and cast them out. I never thought that I would actually ever be telling the story that follows.

About a month after meeting my girlfriend, we were turning in for the night, and she fell asleep before I did. I started dozing off a little, and all of a sudden, I heard a loud noise that sounded like a very low pitched growl, unlike any animal I had ever heard. It sounded like it was right next to me, right in my face. I was scared like I have never been before, and I thought for sure Vicki must have heard it. She was sound asleep. When I woke her up, she told me that she didn’t hear anything! She told me that I must have had a bad dream. The thing is, I was awake, and stone cold sober.

Having no explanation for this, I simply did not know how to tell anyone, and furthermore, I didn’t know anyone that wouldn’t think I was nuts for telling them. After careful consideration, I decided to tell a friend of mine (who happens to be a Jehovah’s Witness). Although we have had our disagreements over the years, I knew he wouldn’t ridicule me. He told me that demons are in fact real, and they are here in our modern world, and although they are evil, they cannot physically harm you. They can however, scare you into doing something that makes you harm yourself, or put suggestions out that will bring on some bad circumstances.

Even though that may be true, I was still pretty shaken by what happened that night, and thankfully, it’s never happened since. I did do a little research on it though, and it was suggested to me by people who are more familiar with this sort of thing, that demons can (and often will) attach themselves to personal possessions (No pun intended). For example if you bought an antique table at a garage sale, and it was cherished by the person that owned it. That person may have had a lot of misery or bad times, and that would be an open invitation to a demon. That being said, I do love antiques.

I don’t know for sure, what really happened, but I know what I heard, and I know what I felt. I guess you’d have to be there. There have been other strange things that have happened in this house also, and it’s not just me. Many times upon entering the kitchen, the hair would stand up on my arms (and I’m not the only one). Then, an uncomfortable feeling – almost like danger. One night I saw a baby’s face in the corner of our bedroom! Another instance happened while walking from the bedroom to the living room, only this time, I saw a man in a flannel jacket glide across the room. (It was only for a few seconds, but it was in color, just like a movie). On another occasion, one of the girls felt something pull the covers back!

I spoke of an antique table earlier, and it so happens we had one in the house. My girlfriend informed me that her Dad bought it some years ago, and brought it with them when they moved into this house. She told me that they have had misfortune and very strange, unexplained happenings ever since.

We have burned that table, and disposed of it since all of this stuff happened, and believe it or not we haven’t had anything like this happen again. Coincidence?

Some houses have spirit activity. In most cases, this activity is benign. People sometimes hang around a place after they die because they are attached to it–or, if they died before their time or in a tragic fashion, they often have trouble passing over.

Some houses contain energy imprints. These aren’t actual spirits but are like a replay of events that have happened in the house. These can manifest in sounds and smells.

At times, spirits are just engaging in their usual routines, oblivious to human presence; other spirits do things to try to garner attention; and then, unfortunately, there are intelligent hauntings. People carry their personalities over to the ethereal. Someone who was nice in life will continue to be nice; someone who was nasty, may try to cause trouble.

Fascinating. I don\’t beleive in demons in the judeo-christian sense of malevolent creatures from hell, but I do beleive in spirits, daemons and ghosts. Sounds like you came across something otherworldly… perhaps some sort of poltergeist?

They’re definite entities from realms beyond conventional human conditioning…..cool write.

Hey keyboardologist. I am glad you wrote about your experiences. Some people are afraid to say anything at all when something weird happens in their lives. Maybe this will help someone else feel he/she can about an experience in the future. One question… has there been any way for you to check your place to make sure it is not a fear cage (wiring, electrical, electromagnetic issues that may cause high levels of magnetic field disturbances, etc) within your home?
