What started as a interesting tidbit reveals much much more.

Today, while working on my college homework, out of the blue, my father asked me, “Do you want to learn how to drive a stick-shift?”

I immediately look up and say, “Wouldn’t I!”

Because of the shrinking economy, the cash flow is getting tight. I’m not sure exactly, but my parents are scaling down on nearly everything. This includes getting a car for me. With that, I browsed the Internet for cars. Part of me wanted to display this aura of coolness, but another part of me wanted to get the cheap option. So I looked at Porshe, namely the Boxter, and by a friend’s recommendation, Toyota Corolla. I didn’t really care what I would drive. I mainly wanted my own car, to be able to come and go as I please. Although I’m in college, I live with my parents, and at some times, I just want to go do my own thing without having my father drive me.

Unfortunately, from what I understand, the biggest factor is auto insurance.

Wondering how bad the cost of insurance was, I got some online quotes: All State, and Geico. Putting in the same information for both, I got the same price from both, but All State had ten times as much coverage than Geico, and for the same price! I spent more than 15 minutes too! Talk about faulty advertising!
