Describing the minds activity under chronic pain. Learning how to live with fibromyalgia and knowing that you are not alone.
Fibromyalgia (pronounced fie-bro-my-AL-juh) is a real medical condition. It includes all-over muscle pain that can make it hard to do even day-to-day tasks. The pain may vary from mild to severe.

The muscle pain from fibromyalgia is one of the most common types of chronic widespread pain in the U.S. People with fibromyalgia may not know what is wrong with them or what is causing their pain. They may feel alone, recent research suggests that changes in the central nervous system may be responsible for the chronic pain that comes with fibromyalgia.

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in September of 08. My question was, what is fibromyalgia and how did i get this?? All I know is that I had pain throughout my body that I could not explain. In the beginning I was told I had this health issue before I was even diagnosed by a medical doctor. This was told to me  by my neighbors, friends and family members baseing it on nothing more than my mannerism. Me  thinking to myself this is something that I refuse to claim and it will eventually go away. Needless to say it worsened as time went by. And it has not went away. I struggled with the thought that at this time in life there is no cure for fibromyalgia and I would have to live with this pain for the rest of my life. It was difficult to accept but I have decided that if I do not accept it I will never learn how to live with it. With this condition I have learned many things in which I have decided to share so that the next young woman or man would know that they are not alone and that there is no age limit to fibromyalgia. And that we are not Physcologically feeling this pain. It is real!!  I have been to many wonderful doctors in which have given me advise on  eating different, excersing and conscious awareness under chronic pain. First and foremost we have to learn what it is that we have and how it affects us mentally. We have One Brain with  three minds….THINK- What can I do- It hurts to work, make love, the house is always dirty, its difficult to play with our children and we think we are taking entirely to many pills. We FEEL the fear of it all in which causes us to want to stay in bed, withdraw from life, never feel happy, anxiety, feel angry, depressed and pain pain pain all the time. This is just to name a few feelings we may all be experiencing. And last but not least INSTINCT- (instinctive reactions)rage, gaining weight, panic attacks, headaches, chronic muscle tension, insomnia, nausea and withdrawn into bed. With this as a patient with fibromyalgia, mentally we have to make a total mental change to calmness and peacefulness. Also there is a breathing excersise that will be very beneficial, when you start to feel anxious or upset in any way it really helps you relax. Take a deep breath then exhale. I do this at least 30 times a day. Even if I am not upset or anxious. It seems to assist with calmness and peace in my life. Excersise is definitely a friend we need to learn to excersise within our limits slowly increasing as the days pass by. If you do something wrong in regards to excersise it will put your in bed with pain. And this we do not want.

Diana, I think that is a great start to what could be a wonderful book. It is so powerful to hear testimonies from people who are experiencing situations. I\’m at the hospital everyday practicing medicine with the highest of skills and technology. However, the mind is the most powerful part of healing. You have to trust, believe, and have faith in yourself and God. The body will follow if it\’s in the plan. Keep me informed.
