A short story about my two darling daughters…
I have two little treasures in my life, my beautiful daughters, affectionately known as Ginger Ale and Miss Muck. Ginger Ale (a few months shy of two) is the apple of daddy’s eye. When my husband’s home, this darling child is the the most angelic, cherubic little lady to inhabit the earth. She’s cute and cuddly and well behaved. Well mannered, quick to jump without argument and always up for a nice long snuggle with her favorite man. As soon as he walks out the door, out comes the other side and it’s like the devil in Huggies. She likes to scream or yell whenever I or Miss Muck look her way and is quite happy to use intimidation tactics to acquire whichever toy it is that she has her eye on today. She likes to rule the roost and may god save any person who dares to say no or ask something of her.
Miss Muck is just as bad, if not worse. She’s a 4yr old who takes an hour to eat her tea … i mean an hour for chrissake! She insists that she needs to wear eyeshadow and sticky lipstick when she leaves the house and throws quite a tantrum when told that someone as beautiful as her precious little self doesn’t need the wonders makeup can offer old hags like mum. Quite the fashonista she’s taken to ugg boots with tight jeans and fluffy vests and thinks mum’s a real stick in the mud when she’s not allowed to don such an outfit for kindergarten playtime.
Throw these two together and it’s like all hell has broken loose in this house of dysfunction. Never a dull moment with one screaming, one crying, a box full of toys but they only wish to play with whichever one isn’t available, one wants nick Jr while the other wants to watch playhouse disney and the endless fights that are a constant in my life. Praise the lord when 3 oçlock comes and it’s time for mum to toddle off to work. At the end of the day when it’s time to come home, pour a nice glass of fruity white and relax with my tv shows, I cant help but take a peek at these horrible sleeping little monsters of mine and marvel at how truly beautiful and angelic they really are. The light of my life, the twinkle in my eye, the hop in my step …. these little ladies are indeed the most precious and wonderful thing I have ever had in my life …. i love them with my mind, body and soul………..
But then morning comes and it all starts again
