“If one feels the need of something grand, something infinite, something that makes one feel aware of God, one need not go far to find it. I think that I see something deeper, more infinite, more eternal than the ocean in the expression of the eyes of a little baby when it wakes in the morning and coos or laughs because it sees the sun shining on its cradle.”
-Vincent van Gogh
“A little child born yesterday
A thing on mother’s milk and kisses fed.”

“Ten fingers, ten toes
He’s laughter and teardrops
So small and brand new
And amazingly angelic
He’s sent to bless you
He’s one special Baby
The best of life’s treasure
And will grant and bless you
Many hours of great pleasure”

One year ago, at approximately 1:00 in the afternoon (3:00 in Korea) my life changed forever when Jeremy Aaron entered this world.
Even though it’s been a year, it feels like it was only yesterday when he was born. But it’s been a long year and the little fellow has grown up a lot. Now, he’s walking everywhere, babbling babyspeak with Aon, and even saying a few words like mama, and waa waa as well as his favorite sound, the sound he loves to make when playing with his toy cars or when he sees a car on the street-vvvrrrooommm, vvvrrrooommm
He likes spinach, carrots, and rice. His favorite yoghurt flavor is coconut, and his favorite song is “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” that I sing to him very night when I call Aon.
And his favorite pastime activity these days? Walking.
Even though I was here in Korea I was there for his birth vicariously via the telephone. On that Friday a year ago, I didn’t have to teach but I still got early (like I have done every day) to call Aon. Jeremy Aaron was due any day and on that morning, Aon told me that she was experiencing some pain, but didn’t think it was labor pain. I called her again two hours later and the pain was about the same, but Aon said that she was feeling okay.
