About my day at Hard Rock Cafe with my school.
Last week Mr. Kawasugi’s 9th grade English class had the chance to go to Hard Rock Café for a day. The reason we went was to learn how reading, writing, and communication play a big part in working in a restaurant. It was great experience, we got to ask questions, and enjoy our time by eating and hanging out with friends. I learned that the servers have tough jobs, every year they are tested on the menu that updates twice a year. If the servers do not know the menus by memory then they will be incapable of helping the customer if they have allergies, or they don’t know what to order and asks for a recommendation. Also when working for Hard Rock Café, you get many benefits such as dental, medical, and vision. Also as an added incentive, after working for 5 at the Hard Rock, they will pay 100% of your college tuition, which can help out a lot of young students that work there part-time. Also another example is that when we came there was poor communication because certain tables of students got served very late. They did not plan on adding the bacon cheeseburger and ran out of bacon therefore people were left waiting while everybody else ate. And at the same time one server was not very nice saying that we couldn’t have refills when we were able to have as many as we wanted and every other server knew what to do and didn’t give problems. Finally the speakers at this event did not talk about everything that Mr. Kawasugi and Hard Rock agreed to tell us, such as emphasizing on how reading, writing, and communication plays a huge role in working at a place such as that. But in the end this was very fun because we got to get out of school, and eat delicious food in a fun atmosphere, I hope we can go on more of these excursions in the future.
