Children are a product of their environment. The respect that parents show to others will follow. I have fewer problems in the program because rules of respect are learned the first day. It is not an option. We try to get parents and children to understand that in the initial interview process. It is not an option. Some like the ideal and others don’t; they move on only to find out the same applies everywhere they go. It is not an option. I love what I do with children; they bring much joy and laughter to my program. How do I know I’m doing the right thing? Screams of Hello’s every time I enter the room. They complete my day before it even get started.
