A high fat diet and its influence on your taste buds.

One thing you will notice very early on when trying out the high fat diet is how quickly your taste changes.

My fried chicken comes from a little shop around the corner, and they sell it in packages: chicken, fries and a drink. Thus, even though my diet doesn’t include fries, I take the package and just leave the fries, as there is no point trying to explain that you want only the chicken part of it. Especially when the price difference is something like 20p.

I though I might have a few fries with my lunch, well 5 pieces can’t really hurt you can they? However after the second one I already knew I won’t be touching them. The food hasn’t changed, but my taste did. They felt like eating dry paper, so empty and tasteless, with that texture of powder or dust to them…

The same goes for any kind of product containing sugar. You think a cookie is sweet? Just wait till you try a high fat diet, you will be sickened. And considering British food still is not that bad, I cannot imagine living in America on this diet. From the brief encounter I had with their cake recipes, they are sugar with cake rather than the other way round…

My appetite has not been bad either. I still have not experienced too many cravings. Even snacking has not been extensive. I have been nibbling on the same small bag of mixed nuts for the whole week now. Which was quite a surprise, as I usually go through nuts pretty quickly.

As for the benefits, my skin has dramatically improved in the space of just these few days. I have been ridden with spots lately, but they are almost all gone now. I do not think it is purely related to water consumption, as I have been drinking a lot of water even before I went on the diet.

I still need to check if this is a more permanent thing, but I seem to have slightly less problems getting up in the morning. Not anything revolutionary like five in the morning, though feeling less drowsy etc.

One thing I need to improve on is my egg intake. It would be nice to have some hard boiled eggs with mayonnaise, but because they takes quite some time to prepare it has been a challenge so far.
