Today was a pretty good day. I can’t complain too much.

I did nothing most of the day. But it wasn’t too bad. Then, tonight we went to Blazin’ Bills for dinner. We saw this girl I used to square dance with, and ate some good food. I had won a fifty-dollar gift-card at the Timmy Haas Memorial Poker Run. That was an interesting day. I rode with Brian, and the first, like, three stops were fine, but then the rain came. It took us quite a while to get back to the 19th Hole. But it was fun. Then yesterday I had freshman orientation. I got my schedule and my locker, and went and found all my classes. It wasn’t too bad. I bet I won’t get too lost on the first day. Today I was talking to my mom about college courses while I’m still in high school, and she said that I should talk to Mr. Shay, my guidance counselor, in the first week of school. Apparently, I can take college courses no matter what grade I’m in. I can, theoretically, graduate from college the same time I graduate from high school, which is good. I figure I’ll start with some basic classes, then go and get my business degree. After I’m finished with that, I’ll get my teaching degree. But that’ll have to wait until after high school because there’s just not enough time. So, I’ll talk to Mr. Shay, and have him help me out with this. All right, I’m outta words. More of my amazing life to come later.

You are so young; full of life and promise! Right now, your life is still an (almost) empty slate, and you can write on it whatever you choose.
Don\’t be in a hurry to grow up. There will be no other time in your life when you have the freedoms you have now. Have you heard the saying \”Youth is wasted on the young\”? You are in such a hurry to join the grown up world, but it comes soon enough and the responsibilities and the pain of living in a decaying body last much too long.
I\’m sorry, what I just wrote sounds so depressing, when I meant it to encourage you. I have taught high school, and I now have 2 teenage daughters. Keep dreaming about the future, but don\’t try to get there just yet. You are still at the fun part.
