A simple, ever-so-brief dream provides a glimpse of Jesus’ face and builds unshakable faith.

I slid back into my recliner, popping up the footrest. Just wanted to rest my eyes for a minute. Although it was highly unusual for me to sit down after arriving home from work, today I felt extremely tired for some reason. Just a few moments, I thought, and I’ll get up and start supper.

The face was blurry at first, but as it came into focus I realized it was a man’s face. His face. Right in front of mine, almost nose to nose. His eyes. The love that was radiating from his eyes was so profound! I could feel the Love so explicitly it took my breath.

He looked at me and said, “I’m here. Listen to me! I am here.”

A car door slams and I jolt back to reality. Kris, my son is home from work. I get up and begin to prepare supper, my head still foggy with the vivid dream. The love filled eyes still haunting my thoughts. Soon my mind is back on my daily chores and the dream nearly forgotten.

Within the next seven days I faced three serious trials, one right after the other. With each severe blow His face with those love-penetrating eyes bounced back to my mind and I knew He was indeed with me and I would survive the storm at hand. I was so thankful He prepared me ahead of time even if I didn’t understand at the moment He appeared. As the blows kept coming I understood perfectly.

I’ve thought a lot about that face and those eyes since that cold Feb. afternoon in 2001. Never really understood the depth of the love Christ has for us but I saw it in the brilliancy of those eyes. A love beyond my own comprehension. I felt the warm, inviting illumination.

The Bible speaks of how heaven will be filled with love. I could never grasp the meaning of that but experiencing those eyes I feel I got the slightest taste of things to come.

Each time I think about that short, but oh, so intense dream I get chills. I thank God for verifying His presence when He knew rocky times were just ahead for me. I also get extremely excited about heaven and what awaits us there. If it is anything like the glimpse of his love-radiating eyes, I’m ready to join the party immediately!

As hard as I try to describe what I saw and felt in His eyes, I fall short every time. The magnitude of love flowing from His eyes was truly indescribable!

“…and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.”

Matthew 17:2

“And the city had no need of the Sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, & the Lamb is the light thereof.” Rev. 21:23

“For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.”

I Corinthians 13:12
