Deep-extending far downward from the top or inward from the surface. Coming from far down or from far back. Hard to understand. Tricky or sly. Extreme. Wise. Profound.
Light stimulates the brain and keeps us awake. Looking at that statement on a more soulful level, going deeper and remembering the song “This little light of mine” caused me to wonder about the word deep and where our minds take us when hearing the word and how light comes into play.
I have ask several people in the past few days to tell me the first thing they thought of when hearing the word deep, the biggest majority of them said dark, buried, weird, strange, scary. There were a few that said untouched, unfamiliar, unexplored, out there, and even some that said, sexy, mysterious, black and exciting.
A friend ask me in turn to explain deep in the deepest manner I could. I imagined a dot and from there around and around expanding the lines further outwards creating a spiral with the dot being the beginning and where I stopped being the present with all the space in between being how we have arrived to the point we are now in time. That’s deep, but what about the other side of that dot from where you started she ask. We all know that space is all around us, above us, below us behind us and in front of us, and in reality space is deep. It made me realize that those type of words like dark, buried, weird strange and scary were a part of why I felt afraid to pursue a lot of things I should have pursued a long time ago. The mind can be a very scary place especially when you are a child or you do not understand keeping us from going places or doing things that we really shouldn’t be afraid of. Just because something looks scary or feels strange, does it mean we shouldn’t go or participate? And what if destiny has placed us there for a reason?
Following an intuition taking it deeper, searching for knowledge, trying to understand what it is that is driving us and remembering to keep it all good believing in the light to get us through no matter what the situation may be, if done correctly using wisdom and having faith, just imagine how much more we could learn. How much stronger we would be. How much deeper we could go just by believing and having faith in that light of ours.
In our professional lives we get our jobs done in the most appropriate and efficient manner for the good of everyone with future benefits. We know it’s what we have to do so we prepare. We believe and we do.
Taking things to a deeper level and looking at them from a different point of view may be necessary at times for another type of job we are needed to do for a different reason. Whatever the space we are in some of us are satisfied with staying within that level, but there are some who are always willing to go deeper. To expand farther and explore the deepness. No matter who we are, where we go, what we do, or how we act, if we remember to turn that little light of ours on when we need guidance and let it light our way when we get to those dark, scary, unfamiliar places excepting the idea that there may be a reason for our placement using wisdom and learning from it, the better we will be for it, and just maybe someone else as well.
As for the question I was ask by a friend concerning the other side of the dot from where I started within my imagined spiral, I first recalled the definitions for the word deep.
Deep – Extending far downward from the top. Inward from the surface, or backwards from the front. Placed far down or back. Coming from far down. Coming from far back. Hard to understand. Abstruse (to thrust away). Serious. Extreme. Wise. Tricky or sly. Dark and rich. Profound. The middle part that is darkest (as the deepest of night).
Whether going down into the deep, or coming up from within the deep, the middle is where we began and some places are not meant for us to go during the time we are here .
Being “out there” or unfamiliar even mysterious and exciting gives us reason enough at times to explore and to go deeper, but at some point we have to stop and conceder the consequences of our actions if we pursue without understanding and ask ourselves the question, How deep should we go?
