Are you wanting to start a new project or relationship, but afraid to count the cost? Forget the cost and just go for it anyway. It is this first step that seems the most dreadful.
I had to suddenly relocate 250 miles hurriedly and unexpectedly! My single unmarried cousin was being evicted from her social housing along with her three dependent children aged eight, ten, and fifteen. There literally was nowhere for her to go, no help at all!
I had been winding down my music business over the past year looking for a new start in life, but unsure of what to do and where. This would be the beginning I craved!
So I threw my belongings into my car and journeyed over to her home town. Not without some difficulty we found a four bedroom house together. She only works a twenty hour week, and I had no work at all!
I sat down quietly and alone and wrote myself a list of all the things I have done in the past, things people do in this new locality and a little further afield and the things I want to ultimately achieve. Quite a list!
I have long found that when in trouble or in doubt it helps center my thoughts and emotions if I write a list. So here was I with no money and a list. I decided the challenge that excited me most was to offer Life Motivation Coaching. And the challenge that appealed the least was the idea of doing part time cleaning!
So I had some cheap but quality business cards and flyers put together for my new vocation, polished up my music teaching satchel/briefcase and headed out to network everywhere I could! London was not too far away, perhaps I could get contracts with corporations there? I decided to target both companies and power individuals.
In time I built up a round of regular clients and kept plugging away at my blogging and bookmarking online business venture! Gradually, using my new work experiences, the money poured in easily from both ventures and I and my cousins now enjoy a fine standard of living!
We eat well, play well, holiday well, and are confident for the future! But I was not so confident when I first traveled the 250 miles! Where would I find work? How would we survive? So today I want to encourage you! Step out and have no fear. Because you have yards of common sense, plenty of life experience upon which to draw, your pleasant personality for making new contacts and your list writing!
When under duress, write a list! Be positive, tap into your long-term achievements and latent abilities. Other options on my list had included cooking, delivering, driving, painting, writing, management, sales, singing, tourist guide, musician, shopwork, marketing consultant.
But I focused on the option which most excited me and channeled my energies into promoting that. You can always try the next thing! I want to say to you, have no fear of failure because you simply cannot lose. Sing, look on the bright side, be cheerful and positive. Develop your sense of fun!
Believe in yourself and give yourself a challenge! You can achieve anything to which you set your mind, if only you will persevere and never give up! And if in doubt at any time, find someone who knows and ASK! And keep writing those lists to direct your thoughts into a positive creative flow! After all, you could become a Life Coach promoting the use of making lists in stressful situations!
Take a little time out every day to be alone and feel good about your self and your efforts, and no matter what anyone says, know that you produce the goods and you always will! Hold your head up high and walk tall! You are the person who can and does make a difference! Be invigorated and just keep smiling!
