Personal sentiments about the King of Pop, thanking him for his music that became part of everyone’s life..
When news broke out that Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest a few days ago, I was among the many who couldn’t believe it at first…but when the news came out more by the hour, it was a terrible truth to be faced with…The King of Pop – Michael Jackson was dead at 50..!!
I instantly cried and felt really sad..it was like a big part of my life suddenly felt empty. I said a prayer for him and his family. I played his music in my mp3 for the last three days. I thought of him , and sadly watched his music videos from my dvd collection two nights ago.
I felt I lost somebody important when Michael Jackson died. Well, he was really important..being a pop star, a total performer and an idol icon. The world knows about him, knows of him and everything else that goes around him. Each has his own story to tell about how Michael came into their life.
Having said that, it was his music that touched my life…a whole lot of it. I remember singing ‘Ben’ , One Day in Your Life, and “Ill be There’…during Christmas I would sing with him his version of ‘ I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus’.
Then came his Thriller album with the hits of Billie Jean, Beat It.. It was watching the Thriller video that I got to like the zombies …. the scary makeup and costumes of these zombies dancing with Michael made me feel that these zombies are not that scary anymore.
And of course, the world renowned moonwalk dance, his fast twirls and pausing on his toes.. on his tiptoes even.. he was awesome..really great.. and it always kept me in awe on how he could do those moves!!
And I would never forget his black and white get up, his ankle short black pants and white socks, his one hand glove, his hat, the way his curly hair would fall on one side..all about him.
Now that reality is sinking in, I finally have the courage to bid Michael Jackson goodbye. I would like to thank him for his music and the great music videos he did. I thank him for being a great performer that he was, for supporting his charities and for being a good father to his kids.
Just like the song he wrote for his dear friend, princess Diana, when she passed away in the mid nineties – Gone Too Soon .. Michael left the world early.. leaving behind his music and a legacy.
I am thankful for having Michael Jackson in my life. I will forever be grateful that Michael Jackson existed in my lifetime. There can only be one like him who has given so much happiness to all thru his music.
Goodbye, Michael..once again many thanks for everything.
