Just an overview about my attempt of making a game in 12 hours.

Last week, saturday night, I was bored, and wanted something to code… as I’m addicted to programming.

So I set up a (really) fast contest, 12h to make a little game. Seems interesting, but not time enough for any kind of “attempt to creative game”. But anyway, I did that.

Theme: Rio 2016 – Olympic Games

Found some people interested, and started. First some concepts with pencil and paper (and cold tea), then I had a simple idea, save the olympic flame from bad people who want to ‘kill’ it. A simple shoot ‘em up game.

After that I started creating a basic stage to start programming, drew a white Cristo Redentor Statue with a blue sky and green grass, then created the shooting and realoading system. So I drew and animated the little human beings, so I started coding that. This is the hardest part of the whole game. All I’ve done so far is the waypoint system, one of that human being is able to get in the hand of the Statue.

What’s next? I’ve just done it for the right side of the Statue, I’ve got to do other side. Then create a “enemy random system”, which will generate enemy people, who chose their own way (I mean, right side or left side). After that create the “death” of them. This is enough for enemies. Create a loading screen, a menu and an instruction screen.

Quite simple game, isn’t it? Yeah, but I’ve learned, 12h isn’t enough even for a pong game with something original. At least I had a nice idea. Would you play a game like that? Oops, WILL you play that game? =D
