It’s okay to encourage sells but don’t mumble the full details.
I feel I got conned just recently. Although I can only fault myself. I should have known better than to have been in such a rush. What I learned from this is never to rush when you’re purchasing anything. If you feel the need to rush then maybe the purchase should wait or maybe it wasn’t meant for you to purchase it.
I went to turn in some assignments on the college campus as I was walking by I saw a vendor booth that caught my eye. I was walking fast but decided to slow my pace and half guessing if I had enough time to find out more about it. I looked at the time and knew I should get going before my kids made it home from school. I stopped in my tracks and went back to the vendor figuring I can see what’s to it since it grabbed my attention.
This was a vendor promoting the sale of tickets for boat cruises on the lake, going at the rate of $15 each and normally priced $60. I went on these types of cruises before so I know how much the rate usually is and by now I figure this must be too good to be true, too bad I didn’t listen to my conscious. I gave in at the promotion of buy four get two free, great deal of $10 a ticket. I did manage to ask if they offered the midnight cruise and the sound of yes from the promoter sounded great to my ears. Sold, I was as I gladly accepted what I thought was a deal I couldn’t pass up. Getting a head start at filling up these party boats on the water is what I thought, since they don’t cruise again till spring.
I hand off my card to pay for the purchase, took a look at the time again and I was cutting it close. She has my card in hand then mumbles a bunch of jumble I kid you not. Isn’t it funny how clearly and loud they can speak when trying to make the sell? But, out of a sudden they quiet and rather hurriedly run by the details. I remember hearing about the two drinks which was fine by me, no problem. It was after I made it home that I felt I got conned because that two minimum was a $20 charge that had to be paid at the time the reservation was being placed. Then to my surprise and despair here come’s the additional chargers of a departure fee at $14, so that’s an automatic increase of $34 per ticket, some deal aye?
While it would have been nice of her, the promoter to at least make sure the purchaser fully understood the total purchase price of the cruise tickets. How can I blame her she’s doing her job and making her sale’s? Although, I don’t agree with this untruthful and scheming practice I can only blame me for placing the tickets directly in my bag then running to my car without viewing over the ticket’s. Just to see the written fee’s directly on the ticket, not jumping out at me of course, but it was there.
