The true beauty of love is a responsible, sacrifice, and commitment combined. With this reflection, I am able to realize the definition of the matrimony, which is sacred in the eyes of God and the eyes of men.
Last May 24, 2008, the wedding ceremony was held at the Jubilee Evangelical Church at Quezon City. My father and I had witnessed this nuptial ceremony. The arrangement and setting of the church is filled with fresh flowers and elegant colors such as red, violet, and other pleasant colors. All relatives and friends are invited to come to witness the nuptial.
When I see the bride walking to the altar to meet her groom. Everybody witnessed her beauty in her long white gown and her happiness that glows from her face as we see her smiling in joy.
The sermon of the minister Reverend David Cheung gave us the wonderful insights about love, courtship, and marriage. It is about acceptance of the perfection and flaws. It is about dying, sacrificing, and loving on behalf. It is about commitment and responsibility of the relationship. These are the three meanings of love, and they are inseparable.
As I see it, maybe I am not yet ready to enter that phase because I am not mature enough to face the consequences. As I see my status in life, I am quite sure that I am not ready. I have a lot of things to do in my life. And, it is practical if I am going to concentrate on career first. Yes, I am enjoying myself while I am still single like creative writing, reading inspirational literature, watching family oriented shows, attending the aero-dance class, chatting with my friend on phone in long hours, and sometimes, going out with my friends.
I heard the church choir singing “I WILL BE HERE”, which is the perfect love song for the occasion. The melody blends harmoniously together. It is very pleasing to my ears. And, my heart is uplifted because I felt that love which can conquer my deep darkest world of depression.
Prayer is also have significant factor in the ceremony because it keeps the God’s working miracles moving to help this newly wed couple to face their new phase in life together.
My father and I enjoyed the grand feast during the reception at Gloria Maris in Ortigas. We were sitting in a table with my naughty and mature cousins. The groom, who happened to be my 1st cousin and childhood playmate, is the youngest of all the boys in the family. That is why my other cousins were kidding around when they were at reception.
“The Prayer” is their most requested song. I thought I am not going to hear it again. This song has uplifted the hearts of the couple.
In the conclusion of this sharing, I would like remind you all that loving someone is a big responsibility because you are already a part of someone’s life and family. It is another phase of your life that will encourage you to be mature, wise, and more loving to your partner and family.
There is a Chinese custom for the newly wed which is giving tea and sweets to the elders and older brothers and sisters. This custom should remind the couples that they are guiding them in their path of marriage life.
Congratulations Williamson and Melody!!!
