A short journey into the mind of a newly pregnant women and what the heck is happening in there.

I just can’t believe it! I’m pregnant!
I thought it was just
my period being late, as it has been so many times before, but after half a
dozen pregnancy tests and the doctor’s confirmation, this time it really is
because I’m having a baby!

There are so many things, running through my mind at once. How will I cope? Will I be able to
raise a baby to be a well-mannered member of society? What changes is this
going to make to my life? I’ll have to tell work. How will my partner react? Can we afford to have a baby?
And a thousand other thoughts, but overall I just
have this overwhelming feeling of elation and joy. To think I have a little
human being growing inside of me, part of me, I am so on top of the world. Hang
on for a minute, will you?

Ugh! Now that I know I’m pregnant, morning sickness has decided
to show its ugly head. Why the heck do they call it morning sickness when it
seems to occur at anytime of the day or sometimes all day?
Anyway, my mommy
friends assure me, that when I hold my precious baby in my arms for the first
time, the ugliness of pregnancy will be long forgotten. But to tell the
truth, that just seems so far away, especially when your head seems to be
permanently over the toilet bowl!

I can’t believe how much my world has changed already and
I’ve only known about being pregnant for a day! It’s not just the who, what,
where and when, (the how I’ve already kind of figured out,) but the utter
happiness that seems to come from within, the secret knowledge that we have
created something totally unique and special.

The joy of discovering I was pregnant with my first child
was the day my life changed forever, but you know what I wouldn’t change it for
anything.
