Rhonda Byrne’s “The Secret” shows it, Abraham-Hicks explain it but few have figured out how to harness it. The Law of Attraction is hot on everyone’s lips and I’ll tell you how I found my amazing boyfriend using a simple tool before I was even exposed to those ideas.

With our first anniversary together just passed, I thought I needed to celebrate my relationship and what better way to say “I Love You” than to write about that special someone.

In mini-form, the theory goes that the Law of Attraction is this: You attract to you that on which you put your attention… and emotion – either good or bad. The universe makes no discrimination. If you are thinking and feeling negatively most of the time about a certain subject, it will bring to you things that are negative (possibly identical, mostly likely just similar in style, to those thoughts). If you spend your time feeling mostly positive and up-beat about something, you will attract something similarly positive and up-beat in that same category.

To cook up my boy-soup, I was inspired by two elements:

  1. I had a girlfriend who, for 40 days in a row, did this ritual: Wrote everything she wanted in a man on a piece of paper and burned it. Keep in mind that every time she wrote that list she had the feeling of how wonderful it would be to spend time with this man. This is what it is like to stay focussed on the feeling of positivity, of actually having this man. She did not write what she did NOT want. This was not about whining that she didn’t have a man at all, nor that the present man sucked nor that the last guy was a moron. She ignored all that and wrote down only the wonderful qualities that her perfect man would have (be careful what you wish for, people, this is powerful stuff). I think she told me that she met her present-day, 20-year-marriage, beloved husband on day 41 or something like that.
  2. I had done “Treasure Mapping” (also called “Vision Board” in “The Secret”) in a Spiritual Psychotherapy class once and it was simply a lot of fun to cut out nice pictures from magazines and stick them on a big board, adding coloured stickers and drawings or whatever else we wanted.

I didn’t really have a plan but the thing that gelled them together was an extremely hot photo of Hugh Jackman on the cover of a Premiere Magazine. When I had that magazine under my eyes I was terribly inspired to get myself a good MAN! I wanted him to look like Hugh so I cut out the picture.
