So there I was, armed with my “foot down moment” and my Perfect-Lover Treasure Map. What that meant was that whenever I thought about being in a relationship, I would only consider my Treasure Map. If I caught myself worrying either that I had no one (because I didn’t for quite a while) or that a new guy might be disappointing again, I would just remember that I didn’t have to put up with that kind of thing any more. I was perfectly happy on my own and could get out of any relationship that wasn’t 100% exactly how I wanted it to be.

I made my Perfect Lover Treasure Map some time in 2005 or 6, the exact date eludes me, and in October 2007, I met him.

We met through a mutual friend who had no idea he was making the match of the century. In fact, he didn’t even know that his guy friend was separated from his wife. He just thought he’d invited some like-minded people to help him out at a sci-fi conference.

After I met him, when I looked at the words on my Map, I was flabberghasted. I realized there were things that I hadn’t even written down but he had them anyway.

For example: In August of 2007, I had been through the Peak Potentials’ Enlightened Warrior Training Camp, something not a huge number of people have done and a powerful experience that we are not supposed to share with the uninitiated. It turned out that my sweetheart was such a match to me that he was also a Warrior. He had been through the program the same year as I, only two months later so we were able to share what it had been like. What’s the likelihood of that?!

Another fascinating thing, being bilingual myself (English and French speaking) and having friends whose mother tongues are in either one or the other of those languages, I really wanted a guy who I could take anywhere, invite to any event and not worry that he couldn’t communicate with the people who were present. I didn’t write it on my “Lover Map” because it seemed not important enough but imagine how happy I was when I found out half his family is French speaking so he’s “bilingue”.

He matches over 95% of the descriptive words I wrote down on my Treasure Map. I’ve ordered clothing I’ve actually seen in catalogs and had far worse results. It’s fascinating to me that the Universe got it SO right. But I did leave good instructions.

We have the same approach to relationships, we have the same desire to grow emotionally, spiritually and mentally, we laugh at silly song lyrics together… and he’s tall, dark-haired, dark-eyed and looks a bit like Hugh Jackman. What more could I ask for?

I’m really grateful to the Law of Attraction or whatever is responsible for it.

Honestly, I believe anyone can do what I did but you must have at least those two elements – the well-thought out list (important stuff: the car he drives doesn’t need to be on there but the fact that he’ll stay home with the sick kids does) and the “foot down moment”, the absolute certainty that you won’t settle for less. Those are the keys to success!

You can even keep the guy you’ve got now, you just have to turn all of your attention to “creating” the guy you really want. Your present relationship can be transformed by concentrating on the positive things that you want and NOT by thinking about the negative things that you DON’T want. That’s what the Law of Attraction says and … apparently, it’s true.
