Spiders can be remarkable predators that prey on lizards bigger than themselves.

Here’s another one of those unusual things I saw – a common house spider (not the one making webs) preying on a common house lizard as big or even bigger than itself. I never thought it would do that; and how accurately it sunk its fangs on the lizard’s nape. I kept this picture in my archives for at least 15 years. You will notice that there are blot marks on the picture showing gradual deterioration of the photo paper.

I took this picture using my Pentax P30 camera which I never use now, when cellular phones, digital cameras and scanners were not yet around or popular. I was looking forward to a time that I will be able to share it. Indeed this is the time.
