A story on a deal of money to be spent.

I came across this bike that caught my eye like no other bike ever has. I saw it from a distance and like it. Then I got closer. Its a Mens Mongoose DH-Team Dual Suspension Mountain bike. I have always been a Mongoose fan, and always buy the dual suspension mountain bikes. I enjoy riding bike out in the hills. Sometimes you can even catch me going off road, provided I have a good enough bike. I bought a Mongoose Spark in 08′. I thought it was a good bike, but later found that it is just too heavy of a bike to take off road.

Now, in Wal-Mart I saw this new bike. Its camo and black. The mix makes it look awesome. It has full disc brake. It cost $497, which is the most I will ever spend on a bike. There is only one problem that occurred. The problem is that it weighs a bit more than I want it to. It weighs less than my current bike, but a bit more than it could be.

But I came up with a solution to it. Replace parts off of it that weigh the most. I plan to replace the pedals, stem, fork(maybe), seat, seat post(maybe), and possibly the wheels(probably not) and anything else I can think of later, with a much lighter substance. I plan to buy carbon parts off of Ebay. I am currently watching a bunch of parts. In all, the total for parts could come out to $200-$500. So in all, in the end, once I’m completely done replacing parts my bike will have cost me a whopping $700-$1000. That will be the most Ive spent on a bike ever. That is a lot of money to me, and a lot for a bike. I have seen some bikes that cost a couple thousand dollars that I feel don’t look as neat as this one.

So I am really excited to get it and bring it home. Then I can start replacing parts, and reducing its weight by several pounds. Then I can use it for going off road. I can travel farther and longer also. I’m also going to buy a hydration pack, either from Ebay, or Wal-Mart. So far Wal-Mart has the cheapest one. They have one I somewhat like for $25. So I might buy that one. Ill also buy some bicycle travel bags, for carrying items like food, snacks, etc.

So I plan on doing a lot of mountain biking this coming summer once again. So I can’t wait. Hopefully this bike will be good enough to last me for at least a couple years.

I have been wondering how long it would take to travel from my house to North Dakota. Its about 600 miles total. I know it takes most of a day for me to drive a car all the way up there. But how long would it take to bike it?

If you have an estimation on that… by all means please let me know. Also, where in the U.S. Are the best trails at? I would like to travel a bit and take on some all new trails, see some new scenery, ect.
