Thats all I hear from my daughter the entire ride home Lubix Stereo Bluetooth Headset mom please mommmmm!!! I said give me a list of all the good things and I wll give you a list of reason why you dont need one at 16.

First, I would to say I am jealous why couldn’t we have blue tooth growing up.   Anyhow here is how it went down between me and my 16 year old daughter.

Daughter: Mom I must have this I can play music for nine hours.

ME: I thought that’s why I purchased an IPOD.

Daughter: But mom it only weighs 28 grams

Me: so easy to lose.

Daughter No, mom easy to keep up with an oh mom!! Mom it supports A.

2DP, AVRCP,HSP,HRP,PROFILES.

Me: I paused because I did not know what she was saying.

Daughter: (still going) It has caller Id and 3D sound mode.

Me: so

She started naming the different brands of blue tooth.    Holdup slow down young lady who is jawbone and SAM as I begin to laugh.

daughter: But mom my birhtday is in 2 weeks and i want something cool to show my friends.

Me: I said first we must have some ground rule.

Daughter: I know..

Me: you will not use this blue thing in class or listen to music for 9 hours.

If lost you will replace it yourself. No using this product at all while driving.

Daughter: bluetooth mom

Me: What you say?

Daughter: It’s call a bluetooth!

Me: No, it’s call responsibility!

Me: I quickly cut her off

That very conversation (or something very similar) takes place in our home on a daily basis. It seems like we have spent an awful lot of money in the last few years on gadgets that they just “HAD TO HAVE” and then by the time we get it home and open the package (sometimes literally that fast!) we hear that this one sucks – this camera records movies but has no sound, the IPODs that they had to have don’t have colour, the mp3 players are too big, they make a bulge in my pocket!!!!

It’s so draining! Every other kid in the developed world has a tv in their bedroom, their own cellphone, a Blackberry, and on and on… Sorry to rant – I just really relate!

It’s nice that technology gives us so many advantages, but just because they want it doesn’t mean we should give it to them. Especially since we know what they can access on these things. I like the internet, but it’s an easier way for pervs to get around.
