I have been married for 12 years now. Wow, that was fast. I have learned that marriage friction is caused by selfishness between the spouses. Friction, what in the world? If we are focused on pleasing our self we will always miss out on pleasing our spouse and produce this marriage friction. The majority of situations can be viewed in this light or shall I say with this marriage friction question in place, “How can I please my spouse in this situation”. Although this always goes against first instinct it will save us hours of grief if we only put it in practice. Selfishness screams: IT’S ALL ABOUT WHAT PLEASES ME!! If we become masters of marriage friction destruction we can rule the world!!! Well, in our houses that is. It would take a giant bite out of divorce these days.
