I wrote this back in March, and pondered on whether or not to post it. I decided to finally do it.
I think it’s safe to say that turning the age of 30 scares most people. Some people tend to think that entering the 30’s of your life makes you old. However, I beg to differ. I live by the saying, “You are only as old as you feel”. Turning the big 3-0 as some would call it didn’t scare me at all. I embraced being able to live this long, and being able to see the things that I have. My birthday was on March 11th, which was on a Friday.
Most people like to get drunk or party when their birthday comes around. I’m not into drinking or partying, so both of those options were out for me. I tend to enjoy the simple and small things in life, so doing it big doesn’t have to always be an option for me. The day started out with my mother and sister singing me the Happy Birthday song. I cut the cake, but I didn’t really enjoy the taste of it too much. I was still grateful and ate most of it though. I later opened up the gift that I received from my godmother, which was a GPS system. Later on in the day I went out of town and met up with my sister and her friend at the movies. I went and say “Battle Los Angeles“, a movie that I definitely wanted to see. I enjoyed it very much, although I don’t believe my sister did. Later on I went to “Chilli’s”, and enjoyed a grilled chicken sandwich before heading back home. That was quite a funny experience, since the waitress was drunk.
On Saturday I was at the mall. This time with both my mom and sister. We all got massages, which was quite a cool experience. This was my first time getting a professional massage. However, I wished that I could have had a female perform the massage on me. But for what it’s worth, the guy who done it was pretty good. After spending a day in the mall, me and the family ate at “Cheddars”, which is a restaurant that I have come to like very much after only two visits. Not too long after this, I headed back home. Sunday I did some cleaning and watched some basketball. I finished the evening up with a jog at the park, and a workout outside the house.
Overall I enjoyed my 30th birthday. The only thing that bothered me was not being able to go the Rockets/Spurs game. That was the original plan, but they procrastinated on it too long, and it didn’t happen. I was willing to spend my own money, but they felt like I shouldn’t have to since it was my birthday. Otherwise everything went well. Turning 30 made me more grateful and appreciative of being alive. It also made me realize that I need to focus on certain things in my life as well. For anyone who reads this, I thank you very much.
