When I think of election, I think of pollution. – do you still think this one is right?

Months from now, streets will be crowded with faces of human, real or just pictures. Posters, banners, and even vehicles with loud speakers will be all over the country, all campaigning for candidates for the upcoming election, both local and national. The word “vote” will be often used, so often that sometimes it gets to our nerves. Candidates will air their campaign on national television in every unique way they can possibly think of, with or without help of any famous artist or TV icon. Flyers everywhere, posters posted on every free space. Well, Election is in the air.

When I think of election, I think of pollution. Why? Flyers will turn into trashes, and the campaigns are just noise. Anyway, that’s what I think before, when I used to not care about it.

But this upcoming election is different. I SHOULD care and MUST. I am turning eighteen before May 2010, which means that I am then allowed to practice my rights, and one of these is my right to vote. I am taking part on the election and must be responsible for it.  I am already registered and the only thing I lack is my list of candidates.

Making the list is harder than filling out the registration form and waiting in line for hours.  Why? Because that list contains the names of the future leaders of the country. Voters should really be careful in choosing, because at one point or another, it is the voters who set those corrupt politicians in their positions. Those corrupt politicians, who used to smile in their campaign, dance or even sing their jingle. Though, not all politicians are bad, some (or just few) are just trapped in a box when people tagged them all together as “bad”. Voters should just really search for that certain few to have favorable changes.

I think it is not too late to change the country, and is not too late to start again. :)

The thing is money will be pouring in as vast as the flood levels from the past typhoon. Where would it be sourced out? You know it when the bag man is caught it would never tell. But surprisingly, there are daily lottery draws and you will wonder why now that the 6/49 bet gets doubled ironically the jackpot slowed down to rise. Nice thought here, Mishee.

You are right to vote and consider it a responsibility. We live in a democratic society and those that continually mock the state and the current climate are those that generally don’t vote! I’m glad that someone of your age takes the issue seriously, and I hope your friends feel the same too. Not enough young people bother and that disturbs me.

Exercise your right to vote because YOU can make a difference. If everyone felt the way that you do, change can come about. Every vote is important.

    Nice article my friend.

First-time voter din ako ngayong May 2010. Yung boto natin isang hakbang sa pagbabago kaya sana mabasa ng lahat ng kabataan itong article mo at nang malaman nila na it is important not only to vote but also to protect your vote.
