The most exciting day of my life was the day that my family went on a nature field trip to North Vancouver. It was the best day in my life. We had such fun that the whole trip often appears in my dreams vividly.
It was a hot summer day two years ago. We went camping in the forest of North Vancouver by ourselves. The place where we camped was near a lake. It was a lake surrounded with trees that had eroded roots. Occasionally, we could see the roots of the trees clearly because they projected out into the water. You get the feeling that they seemed gruesome as if something had crushed into them. I was wondering if the trees implied their endurance. They way that they grew was really strange. Some of them faced north and some faced south. At the moment, I even ad an imagination that it was like an ancient asteroid that blew up the land to make the lake and the trees were pushed sideways because of the impact.
Then, we started to set up the tent. As we were all novices, it took us a while to figure out how to make it work. After that, we went to gather firewood in the dense forest. We crossed a lot of obstacles of trees and branches before we could get the firewood and a fair view of the lake. Suddenly we had an illusion of seeing a lake monster, but it was only a log floating on the surface of the peaceful lake.
While we were fixing up the tent, I noticed that my parents did not like the spot of camping because I heard them complaining. They thought I was asleep, but I was only half asleep, getting a little rest.
On the trip back home, my parents were being hypocrites. They talked to us about how great the camping spot was and how a lovely view of the oddly growing trees it was. I thought they were too idealistic before the camping. They thought everything could be perfect, but sometimes the real world would not turn to be exactly the same as people expected.
