I hope I get most of these done…
Around New Year’s you hear everyone talking about their new year resolutions–I’m going to exercise more, I’m going to lose my extra weight or even I might stop spending money. Well, I’ll tell you mine. I do need to exercise, but only to tone and I need to save money–my college career will end soon. HA! Since I might not keep those two, I’ll share my others with you. Here’s my “I-hope-I-get-it-done list.”
1. I’d like to write more for Triond.
It’s not that I don’t get time to write. I get about 30+ hours a week free time, but most of it is filled with homework. Beside that minor detail, here’s my goal. I’d like to write at least 15 articles a month. I would like to write for all the channels and comment on everyone’s work. This means I’d have to write every other day which would be manageable for my schedule. I even set myself a freelancing schedule which I think I can adapt to on a daily routine.
2. I would like to sell some magazine articles.
The articles I am looking to selling are geared more toward family magazines. It’s just finding the time to get topics, write articles, prepare them for publication and send them out. Then I have to wait months for a reply and another 6-8 weeks for payment. I know–it sounds like I’m procrastinating. You’re right, I probably am. However, this year is all about school if I want my senior year at EIU to be easy schedule-wise.
3. I would like to broaden my music.
For this goal, I am putting my best friend in charge. She knows who she is
She’s influenced my musical selections a lot over the past couple years. Whereas I used to listen to country 100%, I would say it’s down to 40-50%. Most of her music I have never heard of before but sometimes I instantly like it. She’s the one that first introduced to such musicians as Depeche Mode, Lady Gaga, Aerosmith and Mariah Carey. I feel as if she and others have really helped me open my mind to new (and old) artists and I can’t wait to see what they have in store!
4. I need to learn as much as I can about photography.
I decided to upgrade my camera to a Canon 10x last Thanksgiving. I love photography and I am considering it as a possible career choice. My school, Eastern Illinois University, also lets photography concentrations do a design concentration. These are some of the most fun classes I can imagine taking. You get to meet so many new people in photography and I am on the online staff at school. This year, I want to take my camera and shoot all kinds of photos–landscapes, portraits, travel, whatever the case may be. I need to put on a photographer’s hat!
