Being a utility boy isn’t the most ideal job but there’s a lot of lessons to learn if you’re one!

I have to admit that being a utility boy isn’t the most ideal job in this planet, well apparently and just in case you are dreaming of becoming one. I have to warn you ahead. You’ll never get to do your own thing for everything you do must depend on what you’re boss is telling you. And the word “utility” itself is pretty complicated. It’s synonymous to the word “usefulness” which is really hard to specify. But it actually doesn’t really matter, especially to those people who would look at you as an inferior type. Most of the people you encounter with would most likely consider you as the lowest class of specie in the company you are in. In their minds, you are just one poor errand boy, a janitor, “tigtimpla ug kape” and a lot lot more of their substandard attributions. But somehow, there are its moments. Believe it or not.

It has already been 7 months since I started working here in this appliance corporation. I can still remember the day I was first told to work in the company. I was fresh from high school and I know I can’t yet pursue college, so the offer had really brought me to excitement and everything. I was told I was going to be an assistant of one of the managers and that I’ll be doing all sort of clerical works and would be dealing with computers and phone calls but the lowdown is that I will be labeled as a “utility boy”. Knowing this, it had really knocked me off my feet. Though I am not really into accounting, I know deep in my heart that I really want the job. And I thought that I was lucky for having such of an offer. But still, I have to think it over. I did some weighing up between these two options I was brainstorming about. WORK or REST. Long before I received the job offer I was basically determined of using the whole year to rest and to think about every important factor in my life. It took me some couple of weeks to assess and come up with a decision. With my mum’s support at my back, I finally decided to work and take whatever challenges await. I had no idea what will it be like working and doing computer works and at the same time being labeled as a utility boy, but I love to take risks and the fact that at my age I will be working in an office keep me motivated and firm with my decision. As soon as I jumped with these conclusions, I immediately started to work as an assistant of the regional manager.
