Well guys it’s just 11 days before I fly out of here to go to Europe for 3 months (or until the money runs out… haha).

For those of you who do not know I will be landing in Dublin, Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day. I cannot even begin to imagine what that is going to be like. I’ve begun to sell a lot of things so I can make this happen. I’ve sold my TV, my GPS, and I’m still trying to sell my cargo trailer that I used for a business that I used to run.

So for a lot of people have been asking me, “Why are you going to Europe?”, and my natural response is, “Because I’ve always wanted to.”. The truth of the matter is that I have always wanted to get out of Lafayette, LA for at least a little while and see what else is out there. This just seems like the perfect time to do that. I just quit my job, I have enough money in savings to go, and I don’t have anything really holding me to Lafayette. What’s going through my head right now is, “It’s now or never”. I’ve always been a risk taker and make impulsive decisions and I don’t think that will ever change. As a matter of fact I don’t really want that to ever change. I like pushing the limits and expanding my comfort zone as much as possible. The “ready, fire, aim” philosophy has worked for me up until now and I don’t like to fix what isn’t broken.

Well anyway, the main reason for this first post is to show what backpack I decided to go with so here it is.

This is the High Sierra Transport backpack. It has all the features I was looking for all for a great price! The main pack has very comfortable shoulder straps and a waist strap to help bare the weight. It has a detachable day pack that I can take with me if I don’t want to tote the whole backpack around with me (this will be when I have access to a locker for my main pack). The main pack has plenty of space for about a weeks worth of clothes (which is all I plan on bringing as far as clothes are concerned). The day pack is big enough to hold non-clothes items like a mini laptop, an iphone, a book, a journal, etc. (I’ll go into everything I’m packing in my next post). The day pack also has a compartment for an mp3 player so you don’t have to use up pocket space and a place where headphones can be pulled through. I purchased this pack through www.sunnysports.com for $53.95!!! It normally retails for over $150.00.
