An account of my familiy’s night in Rockford Illinois.

My family and I spent a nice night in Rockford with some friends of ours. We started out with a semi normal drive. We had to stop at the local CVS pharmacy to pick up a prescription for my wife. While there I noticed that they had small garden gnomes on sale. We actually have a gnome collection started at our campground. It gets a lot of comments (good and bad) from people walking by. So I purchased three gnomes to add to our collection. My thirteen year old daughter is deathly afraid of the gnomes so I had to put them in the trunk. The rest of the journey to Rockford was uneventful.

The next stop on our Journey was at an Italian restaurant in Rockford Illinois called Lino’s. When we walked in and told them that we had a reservation, I was rather please with the way the place looked. As we were taken to our table in the back of the restaurant I started to get worried. They put us in what can only be described as a hallway. I swear, there were two little rooms that looked like they must have been staging areas for the wait staff at one time and someone decided that it was a good place to install benches and put tables in the middle. There was even a curtain to separate the two tables in our portion of the dining area. I was laughing my butt off. I am not a small man and it took some effort to squeeze myself into this seating area. My friend is large also. It was a riot. The waitress asked if we wanted to move, and we told her it was rather novel and that we would stay. The food however was simply great. All in all it turned out well, because now we have this great story to tell.

After dinner we proceeded to the Rockford Metro Center to watch the hockey game between the Rockford Icehogs and the Milwaukee Admirals. We wanted to get there early enough to be one of the first one thousand fans (it was bobble head night). They gave away a bobble head of a fan called Puckhead. It was dressed with a pig mask on its head and a big hockey puck on top of its head. We were able to see the real Puckhead on the scoreboard and they were very generous with the bobble head, the real Puckhead made me look like a small dude. The hockey game went rather well with Rockford winning 3-1, my wife was rather pleased and wants to go back soon. I was a little bored as I am not much of a hockey fan. There was a moment though, my wife got to have her picture taken with a big spongebob that was walking around. She is a huge spongebob fan and this made her very happy.

I will probably wait a couple of days before writing something again. My wife’s family is meeting for Easter dinner, but I have to work tonight, so I’m staying at home to take a nap. Not a very eventful day. Well until next time I hope everyone is well.
