Finding the silver lining in a cold spell.
I’m concerned for our planet. In fact, my transportation is a bicycle. I recycle. I garden. I have seen the documentaries telling about global warming. But it’s pretty hard to stay focused on melting glaciers at the South Pole when it’s snowing on my garden, and it’s almost the middle of March.
To be fair, it didn’t snow today. Just yesterday and the day before.
Remember the song, “Where Have All the Flowers Gone”? I’d like to know, where has all the sunshine gone? Are all the good-weather elves on vacation in Bali, or what?
I started some seedlings this year. I finally got so tired of moving them around, and in and out, trying to harden them off during nice weather—only to have the snow come back again—that I finally left them outside. I decided they could grow or die. Now it’s up to them. So far, a few hardy souls are still upright.
Those poor little plants don’t know that the weatherman just predicted a hard frost over the next few days. It’s beginning to look as if I took the Christmas lights down too soon.
Wait a minute! What am I complaining about? This cold weather is great! Now I have an excuse to buy that beautiful, cuddly, faux fur coat I’ve been drooling over!
Hmm…
Okay. Cold weather, I need you to hang around for a couple more weeks. Just until I get paid. And buy that new coat, of course.
