My partner and I have just taken over our new allotment as part of a healthier lifestyle, I intend to put the fruits of our labours down into words to show you all how we get on…………

The big tidy up!
Our plot measures 100ft x 30ft and the soil is fantastic but the plot was plagued with a really bad weed infestation so on day one we spent around ten hours clearing all the weeds and generally tidying our allotment up!
Fellow allotment holders have been really friendly and even loaned us a rotavator to turn the fresh earth to help get things ready for planting.
We were lucky enough to inherit a small 8ft x 6ft greenhouse with our allotment and after replacing some of the glass and some gentle TLC it is now up and running and already has plants and seedling growing in it.
We intend to grow all sorts of fruit and vegetables in our plot and we are also growing all of our own bedding plants for our garden at home to save some money in these difficult times, we also intend to grow everything the organic way to keep things healthier and more caring on our surrounding environment.
We also intend to give a loving home to some free range hens in a couple of weeks and cant wait to have the luxury of collecting our own fresh eggs every morning.
On our plot we intend to grow a large variety of vegetables ranging from the usual radish, carrots and cabbages to sweetcorn pumpkins and courgettes, we have even planted some red carrots!
