A cool science project to try.
This is how it started ..I walked into the room it was clean but something felt weird then I knew today was the day!! So I went and sat down at my regular seat little did I know that I wasn’t going to be paired up with one of my buddies. He started calling partners and then he said “Justin and Cameron” I was scared I had never even talked to Cameron let alone work with him. Then Dr.Harbin told me that this would be a great experience to work with him and get to know him and yet once again Dr.Harbin was right. So once I talked to Cameron a little, I knew this going to turn out to be a really cool project.
That first incision was like putting a sword into the box that the magician is in you never know what is going to happen when you look inside. The ribs were the first thing you saw it was gross but interesting at the same time. This was great especially when I saw the expression on Cameron’s face it was laugh out loud funny. When we had to cut of the ribs it was weird because we had to break there bones with the scissors. The cool part though was the heart u could just imagine it beating at one time and it was right in front of your eyes.
The heart is really cool when you open it, it has the two valves and the four chambers its cool to look at what you have been studying for the last quarter. The lungs are really small as two but together are bigger then the heart and it is fun to imagine those being inside of you except bigger. The diaphragm was much bigger then I thought and was cool to look at ,because it has all that muscle and is were your air is stored when breathing in. The liver was pretty cool too it was grayish and we got to see all the organs attached to it so it helped me better understand how it works.
The lower part of the body was like a whole new world! I loved the intestines and the kidneys and learning new things like how the ureters work. The day Dr.Harbin told us to cut out the intestines I was so happy I couldn’t wait to be the best one out there. I finally got the pig intestines out even now I cut the best I could and didn’t break it, it still wasn’t long enough ,but it was still super fun. The large intestine still had waste in it when it came to cutting it open. Then it came time to cut out the eye it was gross and slimy but I still loved it. After the eye we had to cut open the head to look at the brain.
The brain was probably my favorite part especially when Dr.Harbin mad me pick up the head with no skin or eyes on it with my bare hands..ewww some may say but it was quite thrilling in my view. This project was by far my favorite of all time and am very fortunate to have this opportunity. This I can hold with me forever in my thoughts and always look back on the friendship I made and the pig I tortured. So thank you Dr.Harbin for giving me this once in a lifetime experience.
