I have lived in st catharines my entire life and every year i have been able to go down to port dalhousi and enjoy the atmosphere there. A couple years ago they decided it would be a good idea to put a sky scraper in the midle of an area of the city where there is no tall buildings. The biggest building in port is probably a 3 floor appartment building. they want to take out an entire block of port where all of the bars and resturants are which is the main reason people go to port. first of all i think that this great big building is going to look horrible bulging out of the city and making the rest of the city look so old and run down. It will also just completely ruin what port stands for. port dalhousi reminds most of the older people in st catharines what it used to be like. in the summer it is always fun to go to port, get some ice cream and hang out on the beach, walk the streets, ride the carousell, then at night go to the bars. All of that will be different with tower there. A lot of freedom will be lost because the tower will make so many more rules that we will have to follow. Most of the bars will be gone too so there wont even be as much stuff to do, and there will be so much more traffic. all in all i dont think that the port tower is a good idea.
