How do we define or interpret the success here?

A few weeks ago I had posted a poem of mine that I had never felt was one of my best, but was mine just the same. Days went by until one day I noticed that the read count was going up. It had over 300 reads on that one day and then had stopped to my surprise just as fast as it hard started. Time went on until the other day when again it had happened and for the same poem too, only this time it was over 500 read in a 2 day period.

For this one poem, I am just shy of 900 reads and it makes me question a few things. First, wouldn’t a poem such as this, with that many counts be considered “Hot Content” or deem me worthy of being a “Hot User” being that I also read and respond to a lot of articles on a daily basis?

My second and more important question is why, why did this poem receive such notice and so infrequently? Is it the title or did it get stuck in some sort of loop? Either way, I am happy to have received the reads and hope that the read count goes up even further in order to match the success of the many here on this site.

that is a good point,i seem to wonder about some things as well and i kno many are sucessful on here but i think i have to increse my friends list 4 me and i do alot of reading on here…some ppl have so many it is hard to keep up,i write but not as often as some,i am afraid to write like 5 a dy for each may count but i fee it will detract the viewers because there is so much to read and ur best article can get over looked, that is a nice amount of hits…my best has 200 hits and counting,im hoping to see more sucess as well and i believe it has to do what ads r being hit beside ur write!gabbi

I totally understand where you are coming from, the same happened to me with a few articles. one of my book reviews got over 300 views one day out of the blue and I wondered the same things
great write, sometimes things like that happen, definately good to get the views

  • goodselfme on Oct 29, 2008

Yes, who knows what brings on the views. If we knew, then we could pass on that info. One of my most read “this is you” is not one of my favorites and yet is with many others. It is not even my ususal style. Just proves what your post says here”WHY”?

Good job! But I wish that I could get that count on my work. I would love to get that turn out.

  • Kim Buck on Oct 29, 2008

I agree. Some of my items have tags that match the hot content list. I have about 60 pieces published on Triond. Some are poems, others are funny writes. I have had nowhere near the success of 900 reads for any of my items. I’ve noticed that some hot content writers only have a couple of pieces published and some haven’t written new items in days. What gives?

I’m sure you will do good on this one too because of the title. People are curious when they see this title.

  • Luzanie on Oct 29, 2008

    Hi,

I am a new user and stilling trying to figure the ins and outs of Triond. I am also hoping to have success. Good Luck

I think there are a wide number of reasons why this occurs. It can be that someone stumbled your article. It could be that maybe something in your title was temporarily popular for the day, maybe the news headlined something similar to what was in your title.

In addition, there are some people who receive over 10,000 views in a day or two on one article. And there are countless authors and articles being published everyday – There are just a wide variety of potential reasons.

Keep working hard and believing in your gifts and YOU ARE making them all come true!

I am happy for the success of your poem!

    Blessings.

    Sincerely,

    -Liane Schmidt.

    Michael,

Although your poem had 900 views, but it was over a period of time, 4 days..that\’s why it\’s not on the hot content! One of my poem had over 2000 views in one night, and didn\’t make the hot content either!

So the views have to be rising consistently to compete for the spot on the hot content!

One of the many questions I have about Triond, as well.

  • James DeVere on Oct 29, 2008

Let’s all outsource our hits to Hydrabad. How many hits is necessary to become Hot?

    Cheers J

I have not had near the success each of you have had, I am still learning the ropes, so that is something for the rest of us to strive for. I have wondered what draws people to a specific story, poem or article as well, glad to be among others who have similar intriguing questions.

  • acecampillo on Oct 29, 2008

It takes a lot of views to make it to the hot content.. My 2 articles that each made 2000 views in one night did not even make it to the hot content list. The last time my article made it to the top ten list was when it had more than 10,000 views.. It will really take a lot of effort.

Just keep on writing! God Bless You Always!

  • Melody SJAL on Oct 29, 2008

I have wondered about it too. Two of my articles which made it to the top ten did not even reach a thousand views. Maybe it depends on the articles on the hot content list at a given period.

  • Lauren Axelrod on Oct 29, 2008

Nobody really knows why this happens. Sometimes article that I wrote 3 months ago shoot up the charts again.

  • Eunice Tan on Oct 29, 2008

Perhaps it is the mystery as well as challenges in Triond. Good luck everybody!

  • Kimberly Lee on Oct 30, 2008

Great write Michael. I think you really touched on a point that e are all curious about. However, you do come up on my list as a hot writer :) Kimberly

Michael, thank you for putting into words what many of us feel and wonder about. Way to go! With a little bit of ‘tude too!

  • V Frost on Nov 10, 2008

I quite enjoyed this article. I was curious about these things, and even the comments helped!! I am new to this website and still very curious. Thanks!!

  • DVL on Nov 19, 2008

Im new to Triond and im always thinking about these questions, i always wonder what methods the common hot writers use.

Is it because they put their work on loads of bookmarking sites, or is it the amount of articles they write?
