Another brief run through of my allotment and what I have been up to this week…

As a gardener i always try to do things right and without the risk of harming the environment and sometimes this can be challenging, I have a large climbing rose at the front of my home which is in bloom and has fantastic golden yellow flowers, normally it pulls itself through the seasons without any problems but the past couple of weeks it has had a few set backs, in the way of those dreaded little monsters known as “greenfly”!
The whole plant has been infested with the critters and after several sessions of picking them off and crushing them with my fingers i was no further forward so i gave in and bought an organic aphid spray (non harmful and containing no pesticides) and after one application im glad to say NO MORE GREENFLY!

As the weather warms up and we still have plenty of rain the garden becomes humid and these are the perfect living conditions for aphids so beware and keep an eye on your favourite plants as if left for only a couple of days a plant can soon suffer and fall prey to a good swarming.

So after you have created your own touch of paradise and tied up those few little loose ends in your own garden of Eden get the deck chair from the shed, sit yourself down with your favourite tipple and enjoy reaping your rewards.

Your article is as always composed so well and professional! The subjects seem to be delightfully challenging and certainly rewarding. Back earlier you inspired me to plant a plot ….or two!! Today we so enjoyed our daily harvest of fresh, fresh veggies. We must get the free range hens! Thank you for sharing such rewards! Liz

Being just a rose and lawn man in the past I have started to become a little bit more adventurous in the past year. So articles such as yours are really, really useful and good motivation to do more. Keep up the good work!

So nice to have free range eggs in your own farm. I usually buy those eggs from the market, the size is pretty small.
