General article about a lazy afternoon.

The world is bent on destruction. Two days left for my last exam. 25th of May; the end of college. So many young minds rendered jobless. While I read Wodehouse and Tolstoy simultaneously, images of destruction play on the two computer screens in my room. While one shows how effectively a land-mine can destroy a perfectly unsuspecting SUV, the other is a video of the best fighter planes in the world. The constant endeavour for bettering means of destruction will never end.

The afternoon is gloomy yet I cannot take a nap. It’s only been a few hours since I woke up. I turned up the music to drown out the thoughts. Ended up listened to ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’ twice, plunging more into an apocalyptic mood. A friend got me Kureishi as a gift. I don’t dare start it. Not before my last exam at least. Trouble with him is he influences me too much. The ‘Let Go’ syndrome, I like to call it. Living listlessly without purpose or aim and having no qualms for not having it. That’s Kureishi. But I can’t possibly let go two days before an exam. And what happens after that? Should we celebrate? By doing what?  During the exam, I mostly run, between questions that is. Time seems to run ahead always but I manage to catch up in the end. Yet, I’ll be looking at my watch again and again calculating the time left for it all to end. So many exams and years later, it is finally going to over. It has started to rain unexpectedly. My room mate is running out but he’s afraid it’ll stop before he gets out. How often do we have the leisure to enjoy the pleasure of getting wet in the rain? The wind is blowing hard now but the rain has softened. What a relief; both the rain and my last exam. A definite respite from oppression.

Wow, I really liked it. There’s a vagueness in your writing which I absolutely loved.
