They both are serious!

On my other article I was talking about diabetes the result of the illness brought to me to be diagnosis with sleep apnea also. The real package deal!

What is the sleep apnea?  There is two kind one is called OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA, it is the most common, it is cause by a blockage from a little tissue in the back of the throat that collapse during the sleep.  The other one is called CENTRAL SLEEP APNEA that is the one I have.  During the night my brain forgot or fails to give the signal to my muscles to breath so it does result of a lack of oxygen which is very important.

Mine is probably cause because of the diabetes or because I am overweight but it is also due because of my jaw, it is too small. That problem cause me a lot of trouble at the dentist I could not use X-rays because I could not open wide enough, they had problem doing any tooth treatment due to my small jaw.   Well it is the same thing  happening with the apnea so before we event suspect it my husband use to wake me up during the night because I had stop breathing he was so scare he had bad nights during many months until I went to see the doctor and got diagnosis.  I have a machine now I use it every night to sleep it does provide air to my lung so I do not miss any oxygen during my sleep which is very important because the risk of having sleep apnea are very high for a human.

·       Hypertension

·       Stroke

·       Heart failure

·       Irregular heart beat

·       Heart attack

·       You can fall asleep during day time when driving your car

I did experience that situation many times wondering why I was so tired after waking up from a good night sleep, because for me it was. Using the  car was now dangerous until I got my machine. Then the energy came back I was less tired and my husband less stress from falling asleep.

Those two illness or health problem (diabetes and sleep apnea) are to be taken seriously, do not avoid the problems. There is good machine on the market and the test is easy to do at the hospital when you are well guide by a good specialist. But again the machine will be your best friend for the rest of your life.

United States only have almost 12 million people suffering from sleep apnea, there is about 800,000 in United Kingdom and over 2 million in Australia.
