Stumbling upon an old diary brings back forgotten moments.
Today was one of those rare occasions where I venture into the dark depths of that abyss known as “the back of the closet” I had a purpose, I needed that one computer cord that always gets misplaced when one moves halfway across the continent. To my delight, I stumbled upon my old diary. I’ve only ever kept one diary in my life. It always seemed like such a chore to rehash my entire day into a book so I was not a faithful diarist. This cute little pink book holds many secrets from my early teens.
I flipped through the pink pages filled with colored ink, all hearts and big exes. So in love one page, so over it the next. Alex V. was my big crush for a month until I laid my brown eyes on Danny. Tony P. was the best boyfriend in the world for 3 whole weeks! Then it was the Adonis Jason N. that had my heart. Chad only lasted a day- poor boy! I dated a twin, the cute one of course. How funny that I don’t remember my father being so strict, back then he seemed like a prison guard. How our perceptions change with age!
During my undergrad years I managed to fill in a few important dates in the last pages, and things I really really wanted to remember…like Forest *sigh* and I wasn’t stingy with the details which is good because this was something a girl should remember. Mmm … Forest… Oh, what? Where was I? Phew!
A walk down memory lane is necessary every now and then if only to remind us how sweet and innocent we once were (before that Forest came along that is!).
