My crazy adventure this week.

Tuesday morning was a gray, rainy day.  I had gotten up, wrapped myself in my purple fleece robe, had my cup of coffee in hand and was sitting in front of the computer.  The dogs, Max and Missy, were in their spots; Missy on the bed and Max on the floor right behind my chair.  I was busy making comments on Triond, when Max came up and bumped my hand off the keyboard with his nose.  I told him to quit and to go lay down and started typing again.  He gave me about 30 seconds and did it again, this time a little harder.  I looked at him and he had that desperate, “I gotta pee” look in his eyes so I knew he wouldn’t give up.

I called him a few names and he happily wagged his tail at me and out the door we went.  Missy opened one eye to watch us go and went back to sleep.  My kind of girl.  I opened the sliding glass door for him and waited.  Since it was raining, I figured he’d run to his favorite spot, do the deed, and be back at the door in 30 seconds.  Not this morning.  He went to a spot under the willow tree and just stood there, staring at something in the grass.  He’d sniff at the spot and look over at me, then back at the spot.  This being the morning and the coffee hadn’t kicked in yet, it took me a few seconds to figure out that there was something there.  He kept looking at me and back down like “Come on Mom.  Come out here and do something!”

Crap!  The first thing I thought was that he had found a snake.  I couldn’t see anything because I didn’t have my glasses on and whatever it was, was small enough to be hidden by the grass.  I so did not want to go out there, but he wasn’t moving and I had to admit, I was curious.  I opened the door a crack, told him I’d be right back, (yeah, I know), and went and got my blue flip flops and blue umbrella.  (Remember I had a royal purple robe on.  I was a sight!)

That is one absolutely delightful narrative. You’re a good Samaritan. I hope it’s a true story and not another of your sneaky tricks. Kudos to Max, as well, and the chief helped a little.

Happens every spring, little robins hopping all over the place. The family in my back yard have finally gotten off the ground. This is a wonderful story; I can just see you in your purple robe, flip-flops with blue umbrella chasing a speedy little bird all over the yard.

What a wonderful story. i can’t count how many times my kids have brought home birds. The problem is trying to find out where they got them to put them back!

What an interesting story and a bit funny too. The things we do to try and save gods creatures :-) It amazes me what lengths our pets will go to, to try and get our attention. And you and max did a great job. Happy endings are always nice to hear.

Thanks everyone who commented. The little guy was spotted about a week after I wrote this flying from our tree to a neighbors tree and he did it like a pro. So we are hoping he will grow up and come back to nest in the tree he was hatched in.

I am trying to get the word out that I am taking a sabbatical from triond. I just want to thank everyone here who was so helpful to me. I’ve learned so much from you all and I hope everyone has a wonderful summer!!
