Struggles in life means a lot to each one of us. Some see it as basis to become strong, to some it is one reason to fall down. But no matter how many struggles we experience in our lives, let’s just look around us to be our inspiration.
One day, a man came home from work. Feeling really exhausted for the whole day, struggling hard to excel in his job but it seems that all his effort went to nothing. He ate his dinner and then preceeded to his living room to sit back and relax.
As he was making his quiet moments, few drops of tears rushed down his eyes. His life is worthless, everything in him is a failure. A broken relationship and a job going no where and a misguided spirituality. Everything, everything is a failure and frustrations are piling up. He really wanted to quit right now. He wanted to quit his job, his relationship and even his spirituality. He has no where to turn to and he feels so hopeless.

With the heaviness of his heart, he fell asleep. But in his dream, he dreamt of God talking to Him. God said to him, ” my son, look around you and see all those ferns and bamboos around you!” He opened his eyes and saw those tall and greenish ferns and bamboos around him. Then God once again said to him, ” When I made the ferns and the bamboos, I took care of them very well. I watered them and even gave them light. But they did not grew as high as that in an instant. I never thought of giving up on them. For years, I watched them grow and never stopped taking care of them, providing them all the sunlight and water they needed. And as I spent years of taking care of them, the ferns and the bamboos also spent all those years growing roots. Those roots made them strong and gave it what they needed to survive.”
Then God asked me, ” Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots? I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.”
“Your time will come my son, just be patient! Just be like the bamboos and the ferns. Give me glory by growing as high as you can and never never give up because for once I never gave up on you just as I did not gave up on the bamboos and ferns.”
He woke up that night with a lightweight feeling. He uttered a simple prayer, thanking God for His faithfulness to him.
