Standards, how many of us have them?

On a recent episode of Judge Joe Brown he told a female plaintiff, who had been paying her ex-fiance’s way during their relationship, “I don’t care how liberated you feel it is the man’s responsibility to provide the support.”  While many would disagree with this statement, something is clear, more and more men are refusing to man-up and be responsible creatures.  Women are often supporting men in today’s society, and sadly, most of these men aren’t down on their luck, but trying to get a free ride through life.  Doesn’t the word pimping come to mind?  Enough ladies!  Refuse to be a working girl for these men and force them to man-up.  The old saying for ever was, “I can do bad all by myself”, and it’s still true today.  Love doesn’t pay the bills and with that said, another saying that has been used is, “No romance without finance.”

Have women become so desperate to have a man that they are willing to support a man?  It is time for women to regroup, and set some standards because somewhere along the way standards have obviously been forgotten.  Standards by definition are morals, ethics, and habits that are acceptable to an individual.  All women should have standards although that doesn’t mean set them so high that they can’t be reached.  Before a woman ever considers giving a man any of her time she should also require that he has two things; a job and a car.  Don’t worry about the type of job that a man has, or how much money he makes, what’s more important is his willingness to work.  Period.  It is better to have a man with good work ethics who might only make $9 an hour than to have a man who can make $18 an hour, but won’t go to work and wants to use a woman’s car all day while she is at work.  A woman should never start a relationship with a man who has to borrow her car because he doesn’t have a vehicle.  A man should have his own transportation, and it doesn’t have to be the latest and greatest model, but something that will get him from Point A to Point B.
