Off season travel to Orlando, Florida.
My cohorts and I got some rest and decided to make the pilgrimage to Universal Studios. I was not too excited about going as I had taken my daughter and visiting family a trillion times, but for some reason this time was different. I had good friends, warm weather (it was still cold in NY), a calm atmosphere as the crowds were minimal at this time of the year and we had a seafood feast at Bubba Gump Restaurant. I had never been there. It was not built when I left Orlando. There were many things that were not there when I left. It felt as though I was visiting for the first time. Did I mention there were no crowds, glorious!
My digital camera photos had to be dumped into my laptop as I had exceeded my 400 picture limit. We visited the outlets that can be found all along International Drive. We shopped until we dropped. We found items that would normally have cost an arm and a leg in New York and we loaded up on all the souvenirs we could find. (It is cheaper to ship your items through the Post Office, which is conveniently located on I-Drive). Between the four of us, we had neither the room, money nor the muscles to lug all of our trinkets back.
After we had done all the walking, shopping, site seeing and eating that we could stand, we decided on the day before our departure to take in some sun at one of the many pools in the Wyndham Resort. Poolside was complete with bar, good music, great service and fun people. My buddies and I splashed around until we were all toasty brown and then retreated to our condos to rest up a bit before we packed to go home the following afternoon.
We ended our week long vacation with a mini party complete with a home cooked meal of whatever we had left from our groceries. We turned up the music and partied and drank until we couldn’t keep our eyes open. It was a really great time and it amazes me still how we never get to know the peaceful side of the cities that we live in. Orlando has a sunset that I have named Orlando Orange. It was Godly to watch and I am so glad I decided to return to catch it!
