Learning to rely on “The Real 911″ when raising active Teens.
“For He shall give His angels charge over you,
to keep you in all your ways.
In their hands they shall bear you up
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.”
Psalm 91:11,12
“Mom! I can’t believe you’re not going!” My 19 yr old daughter, Tabitha exclaimed. “This is Kris’ big night!”
Ever since my son had decided to race his dirt bike I’d had an uneasy feeling about it. My stomach was in knots just thinking about it. Kris, 20, had plenty of experience with ATV’s, motorcycles, street bikes, now dirt bikes. He’d been riding them since he was 5. Still, something nagged at me. Both of Kris’ friends had wrecked while practicing this week! One had a concussion, the other, hand surgery.
As Tabi and her boyfriend left for the race I handed her the cell phone so she could call and tell me which hospital to meet her at. She rolled her eyes and left.
My pacing the floor began as they pulled out of the drive. Fear crept up on me. I couldn’t breathe! “Lord, Please keep Kris safe tonight. I’m so worried about him!” I opened my Bible and my eyes fell on Psalm 91:11, 12.
As I read it, a calm peace fell over me. God had brought my eyes on His promise to give His Angels charge over him in protection. I had found the real 911!
The phone rang. “Oh Mom! It was SO cool! Kris did really well all through the race and just before he crossed the finish line he popped a wheelie! The dirt bike and Kris both flew up in the air, the crowd went wild! He’s ok, just got a stone bruise on his heel.”
God really can have a sense of humor sometimes. Oh, Kris’ racing number? 911.
“Lord, thank you for sending your Angels to protect us and our loved ones.”
