About the off-duty activities of the Air Force Officers while they were on temporary duty, during the Vietnam War.
Air Force Pilots during the Vietnam war often needed to take care of ‘business’ while on TDY (Temporary Duty) in other countries. My Dad was no exception. He and the other B-52 crew members from Blytheville AFB, Arkansas would be gone for months at a time and became like family to each other. Because they had some idle time, they would take the opportunity to have vasectomies performed by The Yankee Clipper. Dad would talk about this in a teasing manner to his son-in-laws for years until his death. The Yankee Clipper gained quite a reputation among the fliers and for years Air Force officers from all over the United States would visit him for the procedure. Of course we often teased him that the only benefit of having it done long distance was that the women in their lives weren’t able to see them cry.
