It’s a milestone I can’t pass up celebrating with my fans.

WOW! It has been a whole year on Triond and time has flown by instantly. I first came to Triond looking for a new home for my writing. I was, am still currently are, a freelance writer for Helium.com. I didn’t feel supported there, however, and I went looking for a place where my writing could be appreciated. I felt each article I poured out received low ratings, and to me it was one of my best works. I felt as if I was at competition with other writers and I quit writing. They have a rating system on Helium, and each improvement of my article seemed not to get my higher ratings.

At Triond, I don’t feel that way. I feel supported by others in the Triond community. I read the comments section of Triond and every comment people have given me. I read the inspiring comments and they keep me going to learn more and keep investing my time in helping other people. I comment back as my busy schedule allows me to, and friend people back always. I learn from the critical emails and comments I receive and try to improve my writing.

One reason I’m in Journalism is this: I love people. I love to hear their stories and where they have been in the world. I love to hear about who they are and what they are all about. The core stories that make up each person intrigues me. By writing I feel I am doing a selfless service to others. I inspire and help others in some effortless way. It’s a gift I can share with the world, and I am grateful to be able to do so.

Over the past year, I have discovered many things I like about Triond. First, I like there are so many places to publish your writing. I can’t begin to tell you how many notebooks and word documents I have started to try to keep up with them all. I think I have found at least 23 separate sites and bookmarked them all on my laptop. As of right now, I am in about 15. By the end of next year, I want to be in all of them. Another thing I like about Triond are the comments. Keep them coming because I do read them! :) I may not always respond right away, but please don’t take offense. I am working for 2 newspapers and am a full-time student. Finally, I really enjoy the forums on the site. I read them constantly. It’s a great way to find ideas, articles and new friends. It’s a great way to socialize with others on the site and get to know them better. Helium.com could really benefit from this.

    I Jen,

Congrats. I love this site. It has such a sweet and friendly community. I think God nudged me over here to get refreshed. Writers from all over the world are at our finger tips.
There are some wonderful folk and the occasional troll.
I can’t figure out the hot content list either. I think it’s random. What I love best is being able to communicate with writers. I love this. I have the feeling that some of the writers here will be the “names” of tomorrow. Maybe even some nobel winners.
Great to know you. I’m adding you as a friend and will try my best to keep up.

Glad you feel your first year on Triond has been a success. Have only been here two months myself, and with just under 30 articles under my belt (of all different types – I’ve not settled on one) I’m waiting for my first (pathetically small) payment to arrive in a few days.

Congrates on your first year at Triond. I too write for Helium and do understand what you are saying. Much success and I look forward to reading more of your articles.

I, too, used to write for Helium and quit for the same reason that you have experienced. Congratulations! I hope you succeed in your literary endeavors and aspiration.

Well your article resonates a bit. I too am writing for Helium. But in my case it is a “still” not a “was”. I am trying this out because i read some people who stated that Triond, with adsense, has a payout close to Helium.

I do not like having all my eggs in one basket and would like to spread out to even more sites over time, but taking it slow.

Anyhow thanks for an interesting article, I am glad you are liking it here. It gives me hope, since I just started here a few days ago.
